About This Activity
The All-Island 420 Race Team is designed for experienced double-handed sailors ages 13-18 who are passionate about racing and ready to compete at a higher level. This program brings together skilled sailors from Nantucket Community Sailing, Nantucket Yacht Club, and Great Harbor Yacht Club to train, race, and travel as a team. Sailors will focus on advanced boat handling, speed, teamwork, and racing tactics. Daily practices include on-the-water drills, practice races, and debrief sessions to build strong, strategic sailors. Admission is by invitation only from the Assistant Program Director. The team meets at the NYC Boathouse and trains out of Jetties Sailing Center four days per week, from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with additional regattas and events on weekends throughout the summer. Participation in Nantucket Race Week and travel to off-island regattas is strongly encouraged. Sailors are expected to commit to consistent attendance, maintain a positive attitude, and work collaboratively with teammates. We recommend participants commit to the full summer, or at minimum, a 6-week session. A minimum of 4 weeks is required.
