About This Activity
Description
American Red Cross course to learn how to teach swimming, and how to be safe in and around water. Participants must be 16 years old, and successfully pass prerequisites: 25 yard swim of each following strokes-front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke, and butterfly; also demonstrate a long shallow dive, and back float for 1 minute. Participants must complete about 12 hours of online content, 10 hours of classroom and pool content, pass a written exam, and perform teaching skills to standard in order to receive instructor certificate.
