PART 1: Virtual Reality & Coding: Adventures in VR Once upon a time there was a robot…or an astronaut…or a picky eater …or…. Stories are at once familiar to us, but also present worlds where anything is possible. Storytelling allows our children to create and connect and really put themselves into a project. In this program, we teach the elements of illustration, then layer that with the elements of story, and use those skills to develop a storytelling project unique to each student. This program includes lots of hands-on creativity, brainstorming, design, and projects. All are welcome. ==== PART 2: Arcade Game Development: Playful Platformers From Pong to Pacman and from Mario to Megaman, arcade games have introduced the world to countless iconic characters and styles of video games. In this educational program, students will learn coding basics through the context of building their own retro 2D video games. Whether it's sprites, pixels and controllers or loops, logic and conditionals, students will be developing key concepts while building a video game they can play and share. In order to develop a video game, students should bring or rent a laptop or Chromebook. No experience is required.
