About This Activity

The Notre Dame Swimming Camp offers a comprehensive training experience specifically aimed at enhancing swimmers’ starts and turns, crucial components of competitive success. Our camp emphasizes skill development, race strategy, and mental conditioning, helping athletes excel in these high-impact areas. Our curriculum is carefully crafted to focus on starts and turns, along with race-specific techniques: Start Techniques: Block positioning, reaction time, and explosive push-offs. Turn Strategies: Flip-turns, open turns, and underwater streamline techniques. Race-Specific Drills: Tailored exercises to enhance performance in individual events. Our camp features accomplished coaches from the University of Notre Dame, including: Coach Joao de Lucca: A former Olympian and 3x NCAA champion, Coach de Lucca brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the camp. Coach Trevor Carroll: An elite freestyler and ACC Medalist, Coach Carroll is known for his effective coaching methods that inspire athletes to excel.athletes and help each other improve as athletes and now as coaches under Notre Dame . A fun fact about our coaching duo: Coach de Lucca and Coach Carroll were former teammates and close friends. Their shared experiences as athletes not only strengthen their coaching synergy but also enrich the camp environment. They are passionate about imparting their teamwork lessons to young athletes and helping them grow, both in the pool and as individuals under the Notre Dame banner. Required Equipment: Participants are required to bring the following equipment to the camp: Tennis shoes (for dryland exercises) Fins (for underwater training) Snorkel (to aid in stroke technique drills) Water bottle (to stay hydrated) Sunscreen (for protection during outdoor activities) Camps are open to any and all registrants limited only by number, age, grade and/or gend
