Would you like to learn about artistic processes, finding your creative voice and artistic abilities? Join Drawing & Cartooning online! As an artist for 40 years, Ms. Ruth has a passion and love for teaching children about how the artistic process works and helping them to see things from new perspectives through art. Drawing & Cartooning isn't just about comics, but about learning how to think like an artist. Parents will receive weekly prompts (via email) that introduce the new materials for the week. These will include images, text, cartoons, and a video of me demonstrating a new technique they can try at home, like making a rubbing or observing the movement of water. The special part about this class is that content is customized to each individual student’s interests. Ms. Ruth will organize weekly slideshows to exhibit student artwork, which will ultimately help students track their progress throughout the Trimester, get inspired, as well as learn from their peers. This process creates a continuum, where students are constantly reviewing and improving upon new skills and ideas. Your student will... - Learn how to develop characters - Use images to tell a story - Gain confidence as an artist - Be introduced to the idea of translating what they observe in real life into another form This class will be very relaxing and creative as we dive into the world of art together via Zoom, while also helping encourage students to develop intellectual skills they may not get in other classes (like careful observation, problem-solving, and translation). Join Drawing and Cartooning so you can learn about your artistic style and process!
