Description
Get ready for a paws-itively adorable race at the Palm Desert Civic Center Wiener Dog Race! Watch speedy dachshunds or mixed breed Doxie race for glory in this fun, family-friendly event. Dress your dog in their best Thanksgiving costume for a chance to win special prize!

All dogs must be current on all required vaccines and will wear a name tag.
Palm Desert Wiener Dog Dash – Official Rules

Eligibility:
- All entries must be genuine, low-to-the-ground Dachshunds or Mixed Breed Doxies may compete.
- Dogs must be at least 6 months old and in good health.

Registration:
- All participants must be registered 7 days before race day.
- Check-in begins at 8:30am on race day.

Race Format:
- Dogs will race in heats of 4–6, with winners advancing to the finals.
- Races are approximately 30 feet in length.
- All dogs must be accompanied by (2) responsible adults at least 18 years of age during the race. One individual at the start line and a second at the finish line.
- Owners may not run with their dogs, but may encourage them from the finish line using toys or treats (no laser pointers, no bouncing balls or loud devices).
- All humans involved must sign a consent and waiver releasing event staff, sponsors and venue from all liabilities and to use their names and likenesses in future promotional material. Once waiver is signed, you will receive a wristband. Humans must have a wristband to enter the race area. ONLY ONE HUMAN PER DOG
be permitted into the race area at a time. - NO FOOD will be permitted in the racing area. This includes any kind of doggy treat. Nothing edible will be allowed. Humans may use bells, whistles, toys etc. to coax dogs to finish line.

Costumes:
- Thanksgiving-themed costumes are encouraged and may be judged for a Best Dressed Pup prize.

Safety:
- All dogs must be leashed when not racing.
- Aggressive behavior will result in disqualification.
- Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs.

Prizes:
- Awards for Fastest Wiener, Best Costume, and Crowd Favorite.
