Keep in mind a refundable $50 volunteer fee is included in registration and will be refunded when the required 4 hours of volunteer time has been completed. The 4-hours of volunteer time can be fulfilled by completing assignments of field maintenance, cleaning grounds/building, emptying trash receptacles, being an assistant coach for the whole season (if head coach needs one), etc. Head coaches will be refunded this fee once identified.
The boys 7-9 league is a very exciting, offensive oriented league, supported by the Jugs pitching machine in lieu of live pitching to help teach the proper hitting mechanics and speed the game along.
This 7-9 Boys Rookie League introduces kids with hitting, fielding, and base running instructions. In order to provide a satisfying experience for all players, and ensure games are played within 2 hours, the rules for the 7-9 league include a continuous batting order, a pitching machine, no stealing, an extra infielder (2nd base) and real time instructions by the coaches.
All teams qualify for the playoffs. Games are usually played on Monday, Wednesday, or Fridays (5:45 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. start on weeknights) and Saturday and or Sundays anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at Von Colln Fields located at 2300 Pennsylvania Ave 19130.
Coaches and assistant coaches are highly encouraged given the age group and range of duties needed from setting up the game field, score book keeping and assisting with the kids!
Please indicate your willingness to volunteer as a coach or assistant coach during the online registration process! Practice times are scheduled by the coach, not the league. Game schedules will be available when the teams have been filled. Head coaches are exempt from the required 4 hour volunteer time and will be refunded the $50 volunteer fee (payable at registration).
League Evaluations are March 16th-17th (Rain Date, March 23rd-24th), at Von Colln field(s) located at 2300 Pennsylvania Ave. 19130. All players show case their talent levels for the coaches to help ensure a fair break down of the teams.
