About This Activity
The Tournament Chess Club is designed for our most advanced chess players. As the name suggests, this group is reserved for students who have already played in tournaments. Students will play recorded and timed games at slow time controls. We will learn about nuances in modern opening theory, elaborate on middle game plans, and strengthen our ability to tackle tight and complex endgames. Students will be encouraged to stretch their tactical and positional insights that will even challenge the instructor! Ross has either played on or coached teams that have won state and national championships the majority of his life. Two TPS teams have won national championships! (Please note: This club has a later start time with no coverage available to gap time from dismissal until 4:15p. Chess players from other schools are welcome. There is no session on Nov 26.)
