Keep in mind a refundable $50 volunteer fee is included in registration and will be refunded when the required 4 hours of volunteer time has been completed. The 4-hours of volunteer time can be fulfilled by completing assignments of field maintenance, cleaning grounds/building, emptying trash receptacles, being an assistant coach for the whole season (if head coach needs one), etc. All head coaches are exempt from the 4-hour volunteer commitment and will receive back the $50 volunteer refund fee paid at registration.
Learning the fundamentals of softball is the main focus of the girl’s 7-9 softball league. This is a fast-paced game and gives every child a chance to learn the game while having fun. The league uses a Jugs pitching machine to help move the game along and develop offensive skills. All girls will learn the basics of hitting, fielding, and base running. In order to provide a satisfying experience for all players, and ensure games are played within 2 hours, the rules for the girls 7-9 league include a continuous batting order, machine pitch, time limit and real time instructions by the coaches.
Games are usually played on Saturday and / or Sunday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. with some games played on week nights around 5:45 - 6 p.m. at Von Colln Fields located at 2300 Pennsylvania Ave 19130
Coaches and assistant coaches are highly encouraged to help out in this fast-paced instructional league. If you are looking to help coach in the 7-9 girls league, please indicate you would like to help out coaching during the online registration process! Head coaches are exempt from the required 4 hour volunteer duties and will be refunded the $50 volunteer fee payable at registration.
League Evaluations are March 16th-17th (Rain Date, March 23rd-24th), at Von Colln field(s) located at 2300 Pennsylvania Ave. 19130. All players show case their talent levels for the coaches to help ensure a fair break down of the teams.
Practice schedules are initiated by the coaches. Parents are encouraged to collaborate with each other and discuss optimum practice days and times with their respective coaches.
