About This Activity

The Junior Camp Counselor Program (JCC) is a volunteer youth development program aimed to provide leadership, educational, and responsibility-based life skill development for teenagers between the ages of 14 and 17. Under the supervision of Education Instructors, Junior Camp Counselors will interact with campers, assist with curriculum activities and serve as leaders in camp spirit and motivation. Requirements: • Age: 14-17 years • Must complete required application/interview process (applications close midnight Thursday, May 9th) • Must attend week-long training session May 28th – June 2nd from 4:45 PM – 7:30 PM • Must commit to at least two full weeks (Monday through Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. daily) of camp anytime during the summer season (June 3 through July 26) •       You will be scheduled for ALL weeks you enter in ACTIVE as available. Participant Fees: There is a $35.00 participation fee which each Junior Camp Counselor must provide after acceptance into the program. Program Goals & Benefits: 1. Leadership Training, including • Group Management Techniques • Positive Communication Skills with Children and Adults • Strategic Planning, Organizing, and Leading of Events 2. Personal Growth, including: • Social Skill Development • Communicating Effectively • Independence & Responsibility • Identifying Strengths 3. Community Service Hours 4.
