INTERMEDIATE-ADVANCED: This course, taught in Club 420 dinghies, Laser 4.7 and Laser Radial sailboats, is for older students (ages 12-17) who have been recommended for the level three class or have equivalent experience. This course will build upon the skills learned in the Beginner and Intermediate classes. Students will learn to become more aware of wind and weather, learn to read and follow a chart, and will focus on more advanced sailing, boat handling, and safety skills, including tacking, jibing, and landing a sailboat. Depending on the weather an “Ice Cream Sail” across the Peace River to Fisherman’s Village or Laishley Marina will happen on Wednesday (Campers will need $5.00 for ice cream). A fun, “Mini Regatta” will be sailed on Thursday and Friday. Each student will receive a US Sailing Intermediate sailing Manual and a packet of sailing diagrams and informational materials. Students' skills will be constantly evaluated and at the appropriate time those who are interested will be introduced to advanced concepts. Students passing the sailing, knot tying, and right of way rules will receive an “Intermediate” or “Advanced” Certificate of Achievement at the Friday Pizza Party. Early Bird Registration $175 until 8 weeks from Camp Start Date. Registration Increase One $200 until 4 weeks from Camp Start. Registration Increase Two $225 until 1 week from Camp Start.
