About This Activity

Description

A class where students learn to build confidence in the water while learning basic propulsive skills on their front and back. In this class students practice coordinated arm and leg movements, flutter and back kicking, rhythmic breathing, floating independently, and safe entry and exit from the pool.
Class is designed for children with basic water comfort and introductory skills, typically those who have completed Level 1 or can safely enter the water, float with support, and perform basic arm and leg movements. No advanced skills are required, but participants should be comfortable practicing independently. Must have completed Level 1: Splash, or have equivalent skills.
Class Placement is based on age and ability. Repeating sessions is encouraged. Register for new sessions after completing the current session. For specific questions regarding class placement, please email info@ranchotsunami.com or call 951-533-8789.
Instructor Credentials & Safety: All Rancho Tsunami Swim Lesson Instructors have completed rigorous training and are certified in Water Safety Instruction, CPR, First Aid, AED, and BLS. Instructors bring experience in competitive water polo, competitive swimming, and coaching at the college, high school, and club levels. For an added layer of safety, a pool lifeguard is on duty during all lessons, and supervised by a vetted pool manager.
Parent Expectations: Parents should arrive 5 to 10 minutes early with their swimmer ready in proper swim attire, sunscreen applied, and having used the restroom. Light snacks are fine, but avoid heavy meals before class. Parent may escort their child to the pool deck, but must remain in the bleachers for the lessons. Bleachers are uncovered - bring an umbrella if needed; no canopies or EZ-Ups allowed. If a swimmer needs to use the restroom, the instructor will notify the pool manager, who will escort the child to the registered parent or designated guardian. Parents may take photos from the bleachers; deck-level photos are allowed on the final day. Please do not interfere with lessons.
What to bring: Swimsuit, towel, sunscreen (apply 15 to 20 minutes before class), optional goggles, swim shirt allowed, hair tie/swim cap for long hair, swim diaper & cover if not potty trained.

Location & Parking: Classes will take place at Etiwanda High School. Please park in the South parking lot below the football field. Questions can be directed to Rancho Tsunami Site Director at info@ranchotsunami.com or 951-533-8789.
