"Dolphins is for swimmers who are already comfortable in the water and are performing basic swimming skills (SEE SEA TURTLES EXIT SKILLS). In Dolphins, participants are refining their strokes, building endurance, and learning safety and independence in deep water. Students must be comfortable swimming with their face in the water, be able to swim for 5 yards with combined arm and leg action and be able to orient themselves into a floating position and recover without assistance.Focus: Teaching swimmers' comfort, safety, and independence in deep water. Increasing endurance, refining existing swim skills, and teaching more complex strokes.
Exit Skills: (Note: All skills must be performed independently in order to move up to the next level):
Perform 10 travelling bobs
Retrieve submerged object in 4½ ft of water
Front crawl with side breathing for 20 yards
Back crawl for 20 yards
Elementary backstroke for 20 yards
Breaststroke kick for 10 yards in missile position
Tread water in deep water for 30 seconds"
"Limit of one class, per person, per Registration period. If you sign up for a class that is too advanced, your child may not be able to participate in that class for their own safety and will be removed.
***If unsure of swim level, see our Swim Lesson Descriptions on our Aquatics Website or email the Aquatics Specialist at Melanie_Bushnell@ci.richmond.ca.us regarding appropriate swim level. Incorrect level registration will result in no refund or partial refund.
Bring your own towels and swimsuit. Goggles are recommended but not required. We do not allow floatation devices for children.
If a registered participant cancels or does not continue in a program, NO REFUND, NO CREDITS, NO TRANSFERS will be given. Failure to abide by Aquatic polices may result in suspension from program with no refund of fees paid."
