The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. Online pre-work is required. Must successfully complete required swim skills first night of course. Valid for 2 years. Minimum age: 15.
Candidates must pass a pre-requisite swim on the first night of class. American Red Cross digital Lifeguard book, hip pack/mask and whistle will be given at the conclusion of the pre-requisite swim on the first night of class. Welcome e-mail and access to required eLearnings with due dates will be sent out via e-mail prior to class start date. All eLearnings must be completed by the due dates as assigned by the instructor. Candidates will not be allowed to continue the course if eLearnings are not completed on time.
