Description

Balboa Park Summer Dance Camp B Beginning Level

July 22 through July 26, 2024.
Welcome to our Summer Dance Camp B - Beginning Level.
Beginning Level is defined as having one year of dance experience or less at a beginning level. Highlights of the Dance Camp include one week of dance training with the City of San Diego's experienced dance staff, located in beautiful Balboa Park. We will be offering three levels of classes: Beginner (level 1A and 1B), Intermediate (level 2A and 2B), and Advanced (level 3A and above) in a multitude of dance disciplines include Tap, Jazz, Modern Musical Theater, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Hawaiian and more. All specialty classes are not guaranteed for every session or every level and are subject to change. All classes will be held in the Balboa Park Recital Hall. The week will culminate onstage with a theme based Production on Friday at 2:00 pm for all family and friends to attend. Space is limited, so don't wait to sign up. You may sign up for one week or both weeks (click on the following link to register for the first week as well: Dance Camp A Beginner). Proper dance attire, tap shoes and jazz or ballet shoes must be worn to participate. No parents or observers will allowed in the building during dance or snack time, except for the Production performance on Friday. Please write your name on all personal articles. You are responsible to pack a mid day snack, lunch, refillable water bottle and towel for your dancer. As a precaution to all dancers, please do not send any peanut products with your child. For more information about all of our dance programs, visit us at Civic Dance Arts or call the dance office at (619) 235-5255.
Welcome to the City of San Diego's Balboa Park Summer Dance Camp July 22 through July 26, 2024.
Drop off: All Dancers should be dropped off between 8:45 am and 9:00 am at the Balboa Park Recital Hall. (Please visit our website: www.civicdancearts.org for written directions.) No adult supervision will available prior to 8:45 am. Roll Call begins at 9:00 am and classes begin promptly at 9:15 am each day.
Pick-up: We ask that you sign out your child from the Recital Hall promptly at 3:00 pm. Please allow time for parking. No child will be released without a parent or guardian present. Late departure could result in an after care fee.
Early Release: It is imperative that any requests for early release of a dancer be submitted in writing in advance. If a dancer misses too many classes, this may result in them not participating in that class dance in the end of the week Production.
Lunch: You will need to provide your child with a daily snack and sack lunch, as well as a refillable water bottle. Lunch will be provided for your child on the last day of camp, if you wish to participate. More information will be provided during the camp week.
Dance Attire: We ask that all dancers wear proper dance attire: leotard, jazz shorts or pants. Dancers must have tap shoes and jazz or ballet shoes and tennis shoes as well as a beach towel for outdoor activities.
Personal Items: We suggest dancers do not bring personal or expensive items to camp. All items must be labeled with the dancers' name.
Observing: For the safety of the children, only staff will be allowed in the dancing areas or during lunch time. Parents and family are invited to attend the Dance Camp Production on Friday at 2:00 pm which features a culmination of the weeks work.
Emergencies: In case of emergency or illness, please call the dance office at (619) 235-5255.
We look forward to a great summer of dancing!
