Urban Cycling Camp focuses on improving city cycling skills by emphasizing safe street riding practices, pedestrian interaction / multi-use trail etiquette, gearing/cadence/stamina for longer distance riding, rail track crossing, urban wayfinding using maps & apps, bike handling, helmet fit, and bike readiness/maintenance. The camp also will feature opportunities to learn about SF history, culture, and infrastructure while engaged in city-wide bike rides. Daily rides on the trails of throughout SF and into Marin Headlands. Regional field trips using public transit. Level 6 & high Level 5 riders only; entering grades 6 - 9 Participating cyclists must be very comfortable on their bikes and have the skills and mental focus required to ride on off-road trails and city streets for long distances and handle a variety of different riding surfaces and conditions: streets, regional roads, fire roads, and multi-use paths; long/moderate or short/steep climbs; the potential for 20+ miles daily; and periodic need to carry bikes up/down stairs or other obstacles.
