Weekend Treks are a new pilot programs of TFT & we couldn't think of a better time to kickstart these off to raise funds for the much needed support of the Los Angeles Community. 95% of all funds raised will go directly to the Inclusive Action Open Air Worker Emergency fund (www.inclusiveaction.org/workeraid) & the Pasadena Humane Societies' Emergency Fund (https://pasadenahumane.org/eaton-canyon-fire-update/) to aid in immediate community needs and long term recovery efforts from the multiple and currently (as of 1/10/2025) majorly uncontained wildfires in Southern California. At Tree Frog Treks, our mission is to provide a fun, safe and educational experience for our SF youth and community, with our overarching goal being to inspire and instill an appreciation and respect for our natural world and those who inhabit it. Information about the current wildfires, support, and relief funds can be found on our Tree Frog Treks instagram page (with links). We hope to continue supporting those around us who have been, or know others affected by these wildfires. This camp is run similarly to our full day camps, with your campers meeting at our Frog Hall common space, meeting our Animal Ambassadors before trekking to a local point of interest! Our campers will venture by foot, bus or train, looking high and low to discover the wonder that our local parks and city holds. A focal point of this session will be to have a meaningful conversation circle about California's unique history with wildfires and our unique forests, plants and animals that have learned to adapt to them. Information regarding camp details & what to send with your camper will be sent prior to camp!
