Description
Spend your summer outdoors at the historic and beautiful Alum Rock Park! Campers will get to experience a variety of activities including outdoor games, learning about nature & wildlife, creating arts & crafts, participating in daily nature hikes, attending nature-based field trips, and a whole lot of outdoor fun! Camp participants must bring their own cold lunch, snacks, drinks, water bottles, and wear comfortable closed-toed shoes, and sunscreen every day. Camp will be located at Alum Rock Park.
*Families opting not to participate in field trips are responsible for finding alternative care for their child(ren) not attending the trip. The City will not provide a prorated refund for those that elect not to participate, nor will onsite care be available. Campers need to bring water, lunch* and sunscreen each day.
*Safety is our main priority, and we will continue to follow all Santa Clara County and state of California guidelines. Please keep your child home if they are displaying any signs of illness and report the absence to Katelyn Camarena-Pipa at (408) 927-0868 or Katelyn.Camarena-Pipa@sanjoseca.gov

Late Pick Up PolicyIf you have an emergency and are unable to pick up on time, please contact the site phone number or supervising park site.Campers must be picked up at the scheduled program end time. If, after five minutes, a camper is not picked up, we may charge $1.00 per camper for every minute thereafter. If fees are not paid within 1 week of the late pickup date, your camper will be suspended until the fee has been paid. Fees can be paid by cash or check at the supervising park site. Please make checks payable to “City of San José.” Excessive late pick-ups will result in the removal from the program with no refund. Excessive late pick-ups defined as 5 (five) or more in one month.Emergency contact information will be used in the case of late pick ups or emergencies. In the case of late pick ups, City of San José staff will proceed with the following steps.Contact Parent or Guardian.Contact Emergency contacts.Contact CPS or PD. Once SJPD and/or CPS have been contacted, your child must remain on site until they arrive.
Payment Plans Policy$50 secures a space for a one-week camp.Scholarship recipients need to pay $25 to secure a space for a one-week camp.Final payment for the camp is due three weeks before the first day of camp.
Refund and Transfer PolicyAll refund and transfer requests need to be made in writing.Refunds may be submitted in person to any PRNS facility or by email to SJRegistration@sanjoseca.govRefunds and transfers may not be done online.Transfers must be requested for classes in the same season.All refunds and transfer requests must be received at least 14 calendar days prior to the start of the program/class.No refunds will be issued for cancellations received less than 14 calendar days prior to the start of the program/class.There will be a $10 refund processing fee for EACH activity and EACH child.If a class was paid with cash or check, a refund check will be mailed and may take 6-8 for processing. If a class was paid with a credit card, the refund will be credited back to the credit card.
Minimum Enrollment & Class CancellationThe City of San José reserves the right to cancel any class or activity that does not meet a set minimum enrollment. Please register early to avoid class cancellations.We will make every effort to notify you of a cancellation at least five days prior to the scheduled course starting date.
