Activity Organizer: Dr. Dornhoffer Email: email@example.com Dates: Every 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month Times: 4:00 PM–5:00 PM Location: Room 244 Grades: 8–12 Description: The American Sign Language Club introduces students to the deaf community and allows students to become fluent in signing. Over the course of the first trimester, members will learn to sign during club meetings. In the middle of the second trimester, students will begin their final project. They may offer classes or start blogs to educate or incite awareness in the rest of the Silicon Valley community. Students will gain hands-on experience signing at events located at the California School for the Deaf in Fremont. Further, students will conduct individual or group based projects that strive to foster awareness and improve conditions for the Deaf community. Participation in the Sign Language Club will not only allow students to cultivate an active approach to their education but will further expand students’ communication skills through outreach events.
