This class is designed for young beginner players and introduces the fundamentals of tennis in a fun, supportive environment. Taught by the USTA award-winning organization Santa Monica Tennis Collective, players are introduced to the elements of tennis strokes and fundamentals through engaging games and drills. Instruction uses age-appropriate equipment, including shortened courts and low-compression balls, and follows the USTA Net Generation curriculum. This is a mixed-age class primarily for elementary school students (grades 1–5 as of Spring 2026), with players grouped by both age and ability when possible to support development and confidence.
Why This Class: A fun, structured introduction to tennis that builds confidence, coordination, and a love for the game.
What to Bring: Water bottle and any light snack needed (racquets can be provided if needed)
Prerequisite:
No prior tennis experience necessary. This is a true beginner class.

Online registration is required. Walk-in registration is not available.
REFUNDS/TRANSFERS - A $15.00 processing fee applies for each activity session refunded. Refunds will be prorated. Refund/transfer requests must be emailed to the Community Classes & Camps office at community.classes@santamonica.gov. Refunds will be issued only if requested within one day after the first-class meeting. Material fees are not discountable and are nonrefundable.
REFUNDS FOR DUPLICATE/MULTIPLE ENROLLMENTS resulting from multiple registration submissions (at one or more offices or via online registration) will be subject to a $15.00 processing fee for each activity session refunded.
CANCELLED CLASSES: Makeups will not be offered for classes missed by the student. Programs are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment is not met.
