About This Activity
The c420 travel team is for sailors interested in racing a competitive, technical doublehanded boat with trapeze and spinnaker. Sailors joining this team should be ages 14-18 and must have a partner committed to sailing with them for the season. The c420 is an excellent platform for introducing concepts of high performance sailing to youth sailors who have reached a high level of competency in their basic racing skills. C420 crews should weigh a minimum of 120lbs, skippers at least 100lbs. Sailors on this team should be mature, independent, and motivated to practice on their own as well as with a coach. This team will have coached practices twice a week. Boats are available to use for race team sailors 24/7 through the Open Boating program. Successful sailors will practice independently as much as possible. SSP expects that sailors joining this team will attend at least three regattas around the region during the summer season and attend every coached practice (barring irregular exceptions). Admission to this team is by application only.
