Sailors actively enrolled in high school with multiple seasons of racing under their belts are eligible to join the Varsity High School Race Team with coach approval. Varsity high school sailing is a competitive racing program. Our goal is to help sailors develop and master the skills they need to place well in district events with the goal of qualifying for ISSA High School Nationals. High School Sailing is SSP's off-season racing program (Spring and Fall) for high school students who want to hone their sailing skills during the school year and compete in ISSA High School Sailing regattas. While SSP facilitates, coaches, and supervises the high school sailing program, students form their own teams within their respective schools and take on the responsibilities of recruiting and team management. Practices and regattas will primarily take place in Flying Juniors (FJs) and c420s, but may also utilize keelboats and Lasers. High school sailing is a more independent experience that encourages kids who sailed at SSP in the summer, whether in summer race team or camps, to take responsibility for their sailing experience and build their own sailing communities at their respective schools.
