About This Activity
Let's make some electronic music! Students will be given a introductory class into electronic sound synthesis with a digital audio workstation (Ableton). Classes will include a basic introduction lecture into sound, different music genres, and then multiple hands-on practical applications. Primary outcomes at the end of class will be a complete song that includes electronic beats and a melody that lasts at least two minutes, using a number of SFX plugins. Students will have access to a sample bank that I will source for them, and we also will explore other online platforms to encourage and cultivate musical creation in a variety of digital ways, equipping them with the skills to create their own music well beyond the end of this course. The core of this class is to inspire musical play!
