NO PREREQUISITES In order to get the most out of our Learn to Sail Curriculum, we strongly recommend that you sign up for two consecutive weeks! Attending camp for two weeks at a time provides young sailors with enough time to get comfortable on the water and in our boats before we dive into the basics of sailing. Learn to Sail (LTS) is the camp foundation to sailing and being comfortable on the water, including ages 8-18. Campers will be instructed in the Optimist Pram, the Laser, and the 2-person Club 420 sailboat depending on their age, weight, and progression through our curriculum. All campers will also participate in our “Adventure Trek” paddlecraft program, which includes instruction in the care and safe use of kayaks & stand-up paddleboards. A camper may spend several seasons to complete the entire LTS program, and may choose to move on to Performance Sailing or Adventure Sailing after completion. Sailorship Application: SBJSA is pleased to offer scholarships (Sailorships) for attending sailing camp. Any youth, aged 8 to 18, whose family is in need of financial assistance, is eligible for this scholarship. Applicants must complete the questions in the application regarding need and apply by the deadline. As we provide a limited number of sailorships every year, it is always best to get your application in as soon as possible. All requests, names, and specific information on this application will be kept confidential. Limited sailorships are available based on need.
