About This Activity

Whether you ride your bike all the time or like to play in the woods, a week of mountain bike camp is a great way to explore local area trails and get some exercise. Join our staff for a week of Mountain Bike Camp at Loyola. You will learn to climb better and descend with more control. Learn how to shift more efficiently, and brake properly. Through a multitude of activities and bike games, we want to help you become a more confident and skilled rider. Attention is paid to fundamental skills, body position, as well as basic bicycle maintenance. Develop an appreciation for the outdoors in a fun and safe environment with our staff in one of our two sessions for the week. Our staff has a combined 40+ years’ experience in education and outdoor recreation. Mr. Keeney and Mr. Glorioso run several outdoor clubs on campus, coach the Maryland Interscholastic Cycling League (MICL) race team at Loyola Blakefield as well as their teaching responsibilities. They have been running outdoor clubs and camps for the last two decades respectively and look forward to working with your child(ren) during this week of camp. *While riding is our focus in this camp, we realize that we are at the mercy of Mother Nature. Should there be inclement weather, additional activities may be deemed more appropriate. We have access to a pool, classrooms, and gymnasium. All campers must be dropped off and picked up from the day’s locations (Loch Raven or Little Gunpowder State Park). No transportation is provided. Campers must provide their own bike and helmet.
