About This Activity
The Jerry Savage Basketball Academy is for 6th-8th graders as of Fall 2024. Proper basketball fundamentals will be taught, emphasized and reinforced at all times in training drills. The program will be run in Loyola Blakefield's main gym on Tuesdays throughout the summer months. Each week the boys will work on fundamentals of the game through drills and fun competitions. Fundamentals will include ball handling, passing, shooting form, and footwork. The Jerry Savage Basketball Academy is by Loyola Blakefield Freshman Basketball Coach Brian Plunkett, Michael Savage, son of legendary Loyola basketball coach Jerry Savage, and Billy Plunkett ’14, Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach at Roland Park School for Girls. Coach Plunkett has been coaching basketball at all levels from Kindergarten through the high school level for 45 years including 24 years of officiating local high school games. Savage coached with his father at Loyola on the JV and Varsity levels. Time: 6:00 - 8:00 PM Fee: $190 for 6 sessions
