420/Laser Learn to Race is the next step for Rec camp sailors. Geared for sailors ages 12-18 who have completed Rec 12-16 (420) and have received a recommendation by their coach. Learning the basics of racing starts here! Towards the end of the session, sailors are encouraged to participate in local Regattas (Part of Twin Cities Youth Sailing — TCYS). Students will learn upwind/downwind sailing, starting sequences, mark roundings, rules, rigging, knot tying, and general seamanship Sign up for “Island Time” – the LMSS early drop-off/late pick-up program for drop-off as early as 8am and pickup as late as 1pm Prerequisite: Rec 12-16 (420) Recreational Camp Next Step: Per Coach Recommendation — Repeat 420/Laser Learn to Race, 420 Intermediate/Advanced Race Team, Middle/High School Sailing Taught in 420 Racing Sailboats, which are sailed locally, nationally, and internationally. Use of the 420s is included in the fee and boats are provided by LMSS Sailors wanting to sail Lasers must provide their own boat for class.
