The Canine Good Citizen title is offered by the AKC, and can be attained by any dog regardless of breed or mix. All dogs must have basic obedience skills prior to taking this class. The test is on the last night of class. All items must be passed to earn the title.
The test items are:• Accepting a friendly stranger• Sitting politely for petting• Appearance and grooming: A friendly stranger examines the ears, front feet and run a brush down the dog’s back• Walking on a loose lead• Walking through a crowd• Sit and down on command and staying in place• Coming when called• Reaction to another dog: walking politely with another handler and dog team, exchanging pleasantries and shaking hands with the handler. The dogs ignore each other.• Reaction to distraction: both a noise and a movement based distraction.- Supervised separation
Creative Paws classes allow one participant age 14 and up per dog in class. No retractable leashes allowed. Please bring food to be used as training rewards to each class.
