About This Activity
Description
Lessons are held at the Downtown Aquatic Center at 1860 Anaheim Ave location in Lions Park.
Spring lessons meet twice-per-week, either on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays, for four weeks. Each class meeting is 25 minutes. Individual class times vary.
Level 3 - Stroke Development
Ages 6 years and up, class ratio 6:1.
Enrolled participants must be able to float on front for 5 seconds, roll to back and float for 5 seconds and then return to a vertical position; additionally they will have to push off the wall and swim using front crawl for 5 body lengths turn to back and float for 15 seconds then continue for 5 more body lengths or have obtained a passing card to Level 3.
Students learn front crawl with side breathing, elementary backstroke, scissor and dolphin kicks, treading water, survival float, and front dives.
Concentration is placed on water safety, refinement of front crawl, building strength and endurance.
Notes:
- Participants exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, or have been advised by a physician that they are COVID-19 positive, should not participate in swim lessons. Please contact the Downtown Aquatic Center to cancel your swim lessons.
- Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before class beginning.
- Appropriate swimsuit must be worn during class; no street clothes, undergarments, or sportswear allowed.
- Swimsuits with flotation devices are not allowed in the pool.
- It is recommended that long hair be pulled back with a hair tie.

*Participant level readiness is at the discretion of the instructor. It is the responsibility of the parent to register the participant in the appropriate level. Free level placement testing is available. If a child does not prove competency during the first class meeting, they will be removed from the class. Efforts will be made to place child in correct level, but there is no guarantee space will be available. A $10.00 transfer fee will apply to change levels, class times, or sessions. A $20.00 cancellation fee will apply to any refund. The $5.00 administrative fee is non-refundable.
