**If the team is full please add your child to the waiting list - if there is enough interest, we will expand the team roster!The High Flyers Cheerleading Team is a youth cheerleading team for females ages 10-12 with and without experience that aims to build upon and advance fundamental skills and interest in the principles of sideline cheerleading. This developmental team focuses on fundamental skills and builds upon and further expands the knowledge and skill set of sideline cheerleading. This includes learning different sideline cheers and performing dances/routines at halftime during the Summer Youth Basketball League games.
The primary mission of this program is to promote the expression of sideline cheerleading to middle school aged participants and practice positive sportsmanship, teamwork, communication, confidence, leadership, etc., between peers and coaches. This is a developmental program that will stress on the fundamentals of sideline cheerleading and getting those participating prepared for future cheerleading opportunities as they get older. All practices will take place at the Culpeper County Fieldhouse.
**Once a week cheerleading clinics will be held in March to prepare those interested in registering for the team. Clinics can be found on our website under, "Cheerleading Clinic - High Flyers".
Registration Includes:
- Full uniform: shell, skirt and bow
- Team pictures
Specific goals of the team:
- Build upon and further expand the foundation and skill set of sideline cheerleading.
- Learn to properly display acts of sportsmanship, teamwork, communication, confidence and leadership while building upon their prior knowledge and skill set of cheerleading.
- Learn at least 8-10 different cheers and 2-3 dance routines by the end of the season.
- Learn various other skills (stunting, jumping and tumbling).
- Gain the confidence to pursue cheerleading or other sports in the future.
Team Practices, Game Schedule & Important Dates:
- Practices are Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm - 7:30pm starting May 1st.
- Games are Saturday evenings at 4:00pm starting May 31st.
- Parent/athlete meeting and uniform fitting will be April 21st from 5:30pm - 6:30pm.
- Team pictures will be on June 9th, starting at 5:30pm.
Please wear athletic clothing and tennis shoes. Bring a water bottle.
