Taught by Sally Wilson, Ages 16+ Saturday, November 11, 12-4pm Students will paint a portrait of their choice from a photo they provide. This 4 hour workshop is geared for those with some painting experience, but students do not need to have previously painted a portrait. Focus will be on creating a realistic portrait, however; capturing the essence of the subject is the goal of portrait painting. The instructor will guide students with application of colors and focus on the student’s individual expression, strengths, and needs. Some students might want to paint in one or two colors, while others may choose to use a totally different palette than what is portrayed in the photo. We hope to finish the portrait during the workshop, but some students may need to continue to work on their portrait at home. Art supplies needed: Acrylic or water based oil paints, brushes, palette knife, canvas or other surface suitable for paint, palette, rags, a couple of large photos of whom they want to paint.
