A Mom's Thoughts During Back-to-School Registration

-This line is for? Oh, you now need a copy of all of the paperwork I've shown along the way.

  • Birth certificate - check
  • Driver's License - check
  • Shot Records - check
  • Lease or Mortgage - check
  • Utility Bill No. 1 - check
  • Utility Bill No. 2 - Now hold on, nothing online or during the registration process so far said I needed two utility bills. Only one. OK, that's optional. Good, because I do not have it.
  • Online Confirmation Print Out - Nope, I gave that to her advanced placement tester on Tuesday. Oh I can print it in the other room. I'll go do that. OK, back: Here's this paper that says she's registered online, which was also confirmed on your own database when I went through the previous line.

-Nope, she can't ride the bus, we live too close, but do you know information about the advanced placement class location and the shuttle she'd have to ride if she gets into the LEAP program? No, OK then, next stop.
-School supplies and uniform information. Great, seeing as I won't know which campus she'll actually go to until next week. Thanks, though.
-After-school care. Awesome, let's sign her up now! Oh, she has to be signed up online but her new student ID code isn't in the after school care system yet, so we have to do it manually. Then once she's in the system we'll have to do it online. Does the manual registration even count?
-All done! I can leave now. Phew!

While the registration process to me feels like a combination of a dentist visit and getting a new driver's license, I'm glad it's done. I'm also glad it will be another year before I have to do this again. Parents with multiple kids, I bid you good luck!
