The ASICS Easter Bowl

Almost every great American tennis player has played in Easter Bowl, including John McEnroe, Andre Agassi, Lindsay Davenport and Tracy Austin as well as current Top-100 players such as John Isner and Sloane Stephens. This national level tournament is held in April at California's Indian Wells Tennis Garden and features age brackets for all junior players 12-, 14-, 16- and 18-and-under. The 48th Easter Bowl is the only tournament where more than 650 of the top juniors from more than 40 states in all age divisions compete at the same time.?

Zonals is a competition between teams of elite juniors, boys and girls, for 12-, 14- and 16-and-under, who represent respective USTA section against other USTA sections. The Zonals, held in July, are a five-day team competition featuring singles, doubles and mixed doubles play. The results count for national and sectional rankings. (The USTA is divided geographically into 17 sectional associations: Caribbean, Eastern, Florida, Intermountain, Hawaii Pacific, Mid-Atlantic, Middle States, Midwest, Missouri Valley, New England, Northern California, Northern, Pacific Northwest, Southern, Southern California, Southwest and Texas.)

This prestigious event held in July in Delray Beach, Fla., hosts more than 400 of the top-ranked boys in the United States in 16- and 18-under age brackets. The highlights of the singles finals are televised regionally. The singles champion of the boys' 18s is awarded a wild card into the US Open Junior Championships as well as into a USTA Pro Circuit Futures event. The singles champion of the boys' 16s receives a wild card into a USTA Pro Circuit Futures event.

The Girls 18s' National Clay Court Championships are played in July in Memphis, Tenn., bringing the best female players in the U.S. to the region for a week of national competition. More than 100 college coaches attend the tournament, making it one of the best-attended national events in the country. This premier hard-court tennis tournament for amateur and professional American girls 16- and 18-and-under is held in August in San Diego. The 18s singles winner is awarded a wild card into the women's main draw of that year's US Open, and the 16s singles champion is awarded a wild card into the US Open Junior Championships. Additionally, the tournament awards a trophy to the most outstanding player for the season, not only in quality of play but also of sportsmanship and competitive spirit. The trophy is sponsored by the Maureen Connolly Brinker Foundation in honor of the first woman to win a Grand Slam.

This tournament is one of the most important events of the year for the 400 outstanding junior boys 16- and 18-and-under who arrive from all parts of the United States to Kalamazoo, Mich., in August. The ultimate winners of the 10-day competition in singles and doubles receive a wild card to the men's singles and men's doubles main draws of that year's US Open. Often this tournament presents a new generation of future male tennis stars. Greats such as Arthur Ashe, Andy Roddick and many more have competed in this tournament in the the past 71 years.
