Through writing, kids not only develop their writing skills, they also grow their imaginations, express themselves, and get creative. In Creative Writing Club, students will explore short stories, personal narrative, poetry, and scriptwriting. We will get inspired by guided prompts and sample pieces, and share writing with peers through constructive feedback and revision. At the end of the year, students will “publish” their favorite pieces in a club chapbook and take home a portfolio of their finished work. Separate from being a beloved ASEP teacher, Susannah is a writer and former bookseller who fell in love with creative writing at the age of eight. She has led creative writing workshops for high school students enrolled in a musical theater program, as well as for students in grades 1-8 at the writing and literacy organization 826CHI. (Please note: There are no sessions on Feb 17, March 24 & 31.)
