The Intermediate Chess Club is geared toward students who have some experience and have played chess for at least a year. Students will learn to use the correct terminology in chess, including "rank," "file," "center," and "diagonal." Students will learn about forks, pins, skewers, discovered attacks, and removing the defender. We will speak about squares using the rank-and-file coordinate system. Students also will learn how to record their moves but will not be required to do so. Ross has either played on or coached teams that have won state and national championships the majority of his life. Two TPS teams have even won national championships! (Please note: This club has a later start time with optional ASEP gap coverage available from dismissal until 4:00p for TPS students with an additional charge. There is no session on Nov 25. Chess players from other schools are welcome.)
