About This Activity
TPS’s Rookie Chess Club gives students an opportunity to learn chess and play friendly matches with peers in a low-stress environment. It is designed for newer players to navigate the rules and practice strategies to improve their own game. Participants can explore moves and challenge themselves. The emphasis is not on winning but on having fun while learning one of the world’s oldest and most popular games. Ross has either played on or coached teams that have won state and national championships the majority of his life. In fact, two TPS teams have even won national championships! (Please note: There is no session on Jan 31 & Mar 27.)
