About This Activity
Description
This camp combines the excitement of robotics with awesomeness of structural engineering. Each day, campers build and perfect their own robotic machine and construct a useful structure from a collection of thousands of Lego parts. First, they build a standard version of the project with the help of a master builder. Next, they creatively customize and modify their creation. Finally, they test their robot or structure in competition or by subjecting it to measurable forces. Motorized projects may include walking robot (Dumb Bots), cable car, speedboat, gear car, steerable tank, Komodo Dragon (quad bot), spider bot, 4x4 cars and Battle Train. Structural projects may include tall towers, beam bridges, truss bridges, corbel arch tunnels and bridges and a variety of public buildings. Lego Robotics & Engineering promotes problem-solving skills, creativity, basic math concepts, and self-confidence, all while children have enormous fun!
Campers should bring a nut-free snack and a bottle of water. $15 material fee payable to the instructor on the first day of camp.
