Intro to Chess - Camp leaders- Tessa Bennett and Sawyer Kribbs '22 - July 24-28 - 9am-2pm - Rising 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th Graders - $295 (includes lunch) - This camp is designed for children with no chess experience and those who know how to play but want to develop strategies. This is not a camp for those who have been playing long enough to develop a strategic approach. - Focus on the basic fundamentals of chess. - A genuine interest in the game, age-appropriate self-control, and focus will be essential to a positive experience. - Each day campers will engage in games and puzzles designed to improve their understanding of the moves of each chess piece. - Campers will develop core chess skills, learn about the history of chess and world-famous players, and engage their creative, problem-solving minds in a fun, positive environment. - Chess is inherently competitive so students should understand that they will “win some and lose some", however, our camp will emphasize the creative problem-solving that makes chess such a captivating and beautiful game. - More experienced players should check out our Advanced Chess Camp, June 12-16
