This course will explore the art of fables, and fairy tales in storytelling and read aloud short stories. Reading spurs imagination and fables and fairy tales teach about the consequences of good and poor behavior and relationships. Fantasy is the theme this semester, and stories motivate young children to learn language and develop writing skills. Aesop's fables will be read aloud and fairy tales from Disney and other classics will be explored as well. Students will read and hear fables and fairy tales and be encouraged to write some of their own. Often, the story changes when the ending is up to the student. We will also encourage your students to create their own characters through mentoring, examples, and templates. Through the art of fantasy and characters, your child will recognize fictional characters and create some of their very own stories that take them to the depths of their imagination. What fun! This course will enable your student to: 1. Develop creative writing skills with sensory details in fables and fairy tales with a moral and a lesson learned. 2. Write about characters, plot, and conclusions as consequences of good and poor choices. 3. Complete their own writing of characters, lessons, and plots.
